Judge Green's Bio

Judge Green received her Bachelor of Arts Degree, Master of Arts Degree in Communication Studies, and Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University. She began her legal career with Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, Inc. as a staff attorney representing victims of domestic violence. In 2003, Judge Green began her ten year long tenure with the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office. She developed her trial skills in the misdemeanor and felony courts representing mentally ill and drug dependent clients.
In 2014, Judge Green was elected as the Presiding Judge of County Criminal Court #5. She also served as Presiding Judge (2018-2020) over the county criminal courts and courts of appeals. In 2018, Judge Green was re-elected to serve her second term as Presiding Judge over County Criminal Court 5.

Judge Green believes it is important for first time young adult offenders to positively redirect their lives. In 2016, Judge Green created the Green Y.A.R.D. (Young Adult Redirection and Diversion) program, which empowers young adults to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. The completion of the program allows first time young offenders to receive a dismissal and an immediate expungement from their record.

Judge Green is one of four African-American female judges who created the Pipeline to Possibilities program. This program is designed to change the pipeline to prison narrative, and to empower students to become leaders. The program has been featured on Fox 4, WFAA Channel 8, CW33 TV, Good Morning Texas, Heart of the City Radio Show, Black Enterprise, DFW Child, and a series of social media outlets.

Judge Green is the recipient of the 2018 “Distinguished Jurist” Award by J.L. Turner Legal Association. She is a recipient of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. Alpha Rho Chapter “Exceptional Women in Justice and Education” Award. She is a recipient of the Dallas Lawyers Magazine 2019 Criminal Justice Award and 2020 Community Outreach Award. She has also been featured in several editions in Who’s Who in Black Dallas. She is a member of the National Association of Women Judges, the Dallas Bar Association, the Dallas Women Lawyer’s Association, the J.L. Turner Legal Association and the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice.

Judge Green is a faithful member of Concord Church where she serves in leadership in the Deaconess Ministry. She serves as a board member for the Child and Family Guidance Center. She is also a member of the Omicron Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Christians in Public Service, the Junior League of Dallas, and the Southwest Suburban Dallas Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
